Switching?

Not sure what it is, but for whatever reason I find myself wanting to try out Ubuntu or some other flavor of Linux more and more lately.  Probably all the programming and web dev I've been working on.  I switched, what 4? 5 years ago and have never looked back.  Truth be told, I still can't imagine not having OS X ease of use in the home, but that ease of use comes at the price of a locked down solution.  Screwing around, tweaking, fixing bugs are fun problems that just don't present themselves here.

Solutions?

• Both my iMac and Powerbook are pre-intel, so stuck with a costly upgrade for an Open Source OS.  Just a slight Oxymoron.  That being said, I wouldn't mind having a yet to be announced Quad-core iMac to replace my fast aging last rev. G5.
• Netbook?  Dell Mini-9's are running for $249...not bad.  Pop in a 2gb stick and a new SSD on my own and I have a smokin little machine that would blow the doors off my 12" PB.  Probably the best option. Birthday's just around the corner as is Jolicloud....although I was thinking Kindle 2!

Ah, these are the decisions that make you a better person....that I know.
